Sonoma's Estero Ranch Preserved Forever

Sonoma county has gone to great lengths to protect its open spaces.  As an example, in December 2015, the Sonoma Land Trust (SLT), the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation & Open Space District, and The Wildlands Conservancy (TWC) teamed up with the California State Coastal Conservancy and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation to purchase the 547-acre Estero Ranch. Never heard of Estero Ranch? Located in Sonoma's West County, just south of Bodega Bay, the 547-acre ranch is part of the coastal agricultural belt. The Estero Americano borders the property to the south. This waterway is relatively undisturbed, creating a perfect wildlife habitat. The land will be opened up for the expansion of the coastal trail.

This is why I'm such a big fan of West County. By focusing on stewardship and preservation of its open spaces, the region retains its charm and beauty, keeping it a desirable place, whether you're looking for a vacation home or a quieter place to settle for the long term. Throughout the area, most of which is within 90 minutes' drive from San Francisco, you'll find small-town charm, tight-knit community, and abundant natural beauty.
